Controlling hypertension is challenging for public health systems. Despite improvements in blood pressure (BP) measurement techniques and the availability of effective and safe antihypertensive drugs, many patients with hypertension remain unidentified. Also, a significant percentage of those who receive treatment fail to achieve satisfactory control. Consequently, it is not surprising that hypertension still contributes to a significant part of the global burden of disease and disability.
