Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) may soon get treatment in all Army, Railway and ESIC hospitals as well as some public sector units hospitals . The government aims to enhance number and accessibility to aid hospitalisation . At present the scheme has around 40,000 beds combining both public and private hospitals. The scheme plans to double the number of beds that constitutes to about 0.3% increase in the hospitalization rate annually for the first few years.
Speciality hospitals that were available only for railway employees till date will now be open for around 50 crore beneficiaries from January 1. There are over 150 ESIC, 125 railway, 112 military, 12 air force and 9 naval hospitals throughout the country. The scheme intends to cover nearly 50 crore beneficiaries from 10.74 deprived families with a cashless health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family annually. …
