The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing an international kidney trafficking racket has arrested a man from Solapur who allegedly posed as a doctor and acted as an agent in sending poor villagers from Maharashtra to Cambodia for illegal kidney removal. The accused falsely claimed to be a “Doctor” and is believed to have facilitated kidney transplants for financial gain, police officials said. According to investigators, the accused took around 10 to 12 individuals to a hospital in Cambodia, where their kidneys were illegally removed. In return, he allegedly received a commission of about ₹1 lakh per victim from the racketeers involved in the organ trafficking network.

The arrest was made after the SIT traced his location using SIM card data. He was produced before a court on Monday and remanded to four days of police custody for further investigation. Police revealed that the…
