The US FDA recently gave priority review designation and subsequently approved the combination of ceftolozane and tazobactam, assisting in the treatment of Hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP) and Ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP) for patients with 18 years of age and above. The combination was earlier approved for treating complicated urinary tract infections and intra-abdominal infections, the same combination is approved for a new indication related to HABP or VABP. HABP or VABP is hospital related infections caused by various species of gram-negative pathogenic bacteria.
