A study published by the Post-graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, has shown that only 198 medical colleges in India have laboratories accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories. The lack of specialty diagnostic laboratories in medical colleges reduces the opportunity for medical students to acquire adequate training and severely impacts the accessibility to universal healthcare services.
