Ultrasound therapy has great potential in the field of orthopaedics considering its non-invasiveness and sharp treatment margins leading to treatments with very low complication rates. HIFU, in combination with other therapeutic and diagnostic modalities (targeted drug/gene delivery, robotic surgery, and molecular imaging), has the potential for a great revolutionary clinical impact.
