A former state president of the Indian Medical Association Maharashtra chapter has been arrested in connection with an alleged illegal sex determination and abortion racket that investigators say operated across parts of Maharashtra, including Pune and Ahilyanagar. According to police officials, the accused doctor was taken into custody in Rahata following an investigation into alleged violations of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, commonly known as the PCPNDT Act. Authorities claim the probe uncovered a network involving doctors, intermediaries, and family members who allegedly facilitated illegal prenatal sex determination tests and abortions.
