Internationally family medicine has evolved as an independent discipline and speciality based primary care physicians. India has a long tradition of family practice however due to various regulatory barriers family medicine did not optimally develop in mainstream medical education. Only handful of centers are offering training for family medicine.
Such courses are the need of the hour, as we need good family physicians to take care of patients upfront. What is the future of family medicine in India?
