Why You Must Not Prescribe Generic Drugs MY CONSIDERED RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE ARTICLE:   There is a lot of truth in the article about the manufacturing standards (or lack of them) and the quality (or lack of it) of the drugs manufactured in India. Sometimes back it was in the press that at least 30% of the drugs available in the Indian market are fake or substandard. Alarming, yes, but possible. And the packing is often as good as the original, so much so that even the doctors may not make out which one is fake and which one is original.

Having said that, let’s get back to the core issue- The Generic drugs and the latest instructions that the doctors should prescribe the drugs only by the generic names.
