Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are one of the most common complications of T2DM and have affected around 32.2% of the T2DM population across the globe (1). Owing to the increased CV risk associated with certain antidiabetic agents, FDA in 2008 has mandated the long-term cardiovascular outcomes trials (CVOTs) for CV safety of antidiabetic agents (2). Sulfonylureas (SUs) are the oldest and the most prescribed oral antidiabetic agents (3).
Several clinical studies and CVOTs (ADVANCE) have established the CV neutrality of modern sulfonylureas (4,5).
