The Government of Maharashtra has decided to establish Clinical Forensic Medicine Unit (CFMU) with Rape Crisis Centres (RCC) in hospitals across the state. The victims of such dreaded ferocity face tremendous physical, emotional and psychological trauma making it tough to continue with the legal process. Establishment of CFMU with RCC in hospitals will ease the entire procedure by providing a combination of medical as well as legal support and services to the victims.
The motive behind the establishment is to increase the conviction rate in bodily offenses and handle the rape cases sensitively and help improve the quality of clinical forensic work.
