The BJP government in Haryana has come under heavy criticism for its choice of yoga guru Ramdev as the state's brand ambassador. The opposition on Thursday alleged that Ramdev's company was selling 'Puttar Bijak' — proper name 'Divya Putrajeevak Beej' — medicine that was meant to help women give birth to male child. The issue was raised in the state assembly by Congress MLA and former parliamentary affairs minister Karan Singh Dalal. The legislator even demanded arrest of the yoga guru and registration of a case against him for promoting sex discrimination.

Dalal also demanded withdrawal of the medicine from all pharmacies in the state immediately. "Divya Putrajeevak Beej is being sold in the entire country including Haryana, which is already facing problem of skewed sex ratio," he said.
