Common bile duct (CBD) exploration is the procedure to manage choledocholithiasis or gallstones in a common bile duct. The article attempts to provide the strategy for common bile duct exploration. Gall stones are believed to be formed due to high cholesterol, bilirubin or inadequate bile salts. About 15 % of world population is affected by the gallstone issues. Commonly gallstones are formed in the gallbladder and often passed unnoticed through common bile duct (CBD).
But, when these gallstones obstruct CBD, the condition is termed as choledocholithiasis. When the blockage becomes severe symptoms become worse.
