The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, jointly with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has issued new guidelines for issuing a legal document for COVID-19-related deaths. The Centre stated, based on an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, that a notice was issued by the office of The Registrar General of India on 3rd September 2021 to provide a medical certificate of cause of death to the family of the deceased.” As per the guidelines, Those diagnosed through a positive RT-PCR/molecular test/RAT or clinically determined through investigations in a hospital/in-patient facility by a treating physician while admitted to the hospital/in-patient facility are to be counted as COVID-19 cases.
