A 65 years old diabetic patient has undergone hair transplantation, unfortunately, that led to complications of severe infection, sepsis, gangrene formation and loss of the right eye. Observations of the state medical council: MBBS degree holder without any postgraduation degree/diploma writing himself as hair transplant specialist to attract clients. Before hair transplant, proper evaluation of diabetic patient was not done and neither case was referred to higher centre nor any expert opinion taken which proved deficiency in services and negligence on part of the doctor.
Punishment: The doctor was suspended for two years and disbarred from practising hair transplant surgery. What is your opinion on this case? Kindly share.
