The health minister of Rajasthan has declared that they have arrested 276 accused which includes 170 doctors, for their involvement in sex selection activities. 203 accused have been convicted by the court. In a meeting conducted at State Institute of Health & Family Welfare (SIHFW) of pre-conception pre-natal diagnostic technique (PCPNDT) supervisory board to discuss the decoy operation carried out in the state.
Health minister stated that, “sex ratio at birth (SRB) is constantly increasing in Rajasthan, it was 938 in 2016-17 but in 2017-18 it has increased to 950, which is a good sign.” He also mentioned that the state government has increased the surveillance of sonography centres and estimated that there are 2968 sonography machines in the state, which are registered under PCPNDT Act. 1214 inspections have been conducted since January to May in 2018, while last year there were 923…
