The World Health Statistics 2015 brought out by the WHO has claimed that the per capita total expenditure on health in India was US$58 in 2012 as against 88 and US$ 108 in other developing countries like Sri Lanka and Indonesia respectively. As per World Health Statistics 2015 by the WHO, the per capita expenditure on health (at average exchange rate) in India was US$ 58 as compared to the select developing countries like China (US$ 322).

The per capita expenditure in health in some countries were as follows, as told by the Health Minister to the Rajya Sabha in a written reply: Indonesia (US$ 108), Malaysia ( US$ 418), Nigeria (US$ 93), Pakistan (US$ 34), the Phillippines (US$ 115), Sri Lanka (US$ 88) and Thailand (US$ 247).
