Unusual observation in Heart failure patients as per EF,done out of clinical and X-ray findings: Especially when the Ejection fraction is reported below 50 percent in echo examination, it is generally considered as heart is failing. In lot of cases when the EF by echo is very less, but the x-ray chest does not show any congestion, the patient will be free of symptoms. This may be due to spongiform cardiomyopathy. But in some of the cases when they discontinue the HF treatment as decided by EF for quite some time, there is no obvious clinical deterioration is being noted.
The same way, patients with EF of 20 to 25 have been noted to ride even bicycles and no symptom of exertion noted by them.
