Several factors contribute to the frequency and spread of hospital infections, including immunosuppressed or immunocompromised patients, poor patient care practices, infection transmission among patients, and extensive antibiotic usage, resulting in antibiotic resistance. Nosocomial infections are a major cause of mortality and morbidity and pose a serious challenge to the healthcare system. A high frequency of such infections results from poor quality health service delivery. Strict adherence to infection preventive practices, continuous surveillance, and trained healthcare staff are essential to tackle nosocomial infections.
