What is Pancreatitis? Asked my daughter when she learnt about a collegues son being admitted in hospital. I explainted her about the terminology and went a step further telling her about the severity of this disease.Why and how did it occur? I thought for a while - Alcoholism ,Gall stones ,Trauma ,Drugs and then viral infections. But why did it occur in this 17 year old boy? I said may be Viral? No other factor I could find.Further probed how it can be prevented and I did not have a definite answer.
Then I went back into my medical teaching - Diabetes,hypertension,IHD, Auto Immune diseases, Arthritis. Spondylosis - exact cause ? The whole list - not one common factor .
