Acute pelvic pain in female adolescents is a cause of worry for both patient and her parents. Though most of the times patients are told to bear the pain, it may become unbearable and patients visit the clinicians. What approach should be taken in these cases is described in this article. Many times physicians or gynecologists are presented with a young female patient with severe lower abdominal or pelvic pain.
However, in the adolescent patients the severity of this pain is much higher and linked mostly to gynecological conditions. Physicians and gynecologists need to assess such presentation thoroughly, so that the risk of possible gynecological complications is well addressed.
