Despite global efforts to reduce sodium consumption by 30% by 2030, progress has been slow, with the global average intake remaining at 4.3 g/day in 2019. To address this issue, WHO has recently suggested replacing table salt with lower-sodium salt substitutes (LSSS) which contain potassium chloride and reduced sodium levels.
