Vitamin K-dependent anticoagulants such as warfarin are traditionally used to prevent thromboembolism in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. However, they have an increased risk of bleeding and require dose adjustments and frequent monitoring. In the late 2000s, a new generation of oral anticoagulants, non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs), was developed. NOACs provide several advantages, including predictable pharmacokinetics, fewer dietary restrictions, and a lower risk of drug interactions. Their efficacy in preventing strokes and systemic embolism in AF patients is well-documented.
As a result, NOACs have become a preferred choice for many clinicians. To gain more insights into “NOACs: Newer Oral Anticoagulants Use,” join our renowned Intensive Care Specialist Dr. Pradeep Rangappa in our exclusive webinar on 25 th February 2025, 6:00 PM IST . Stay tuned! Suggested for…
