A large number of patients in an oncological set up turn up with malignant pleural effusion. Presence of malignant pleural effusion is a stage 4 disease. Out of all the treatment modalities available instillation of a talcum powder into pleural cavity via the chest drain till date has given the most useful results with upto 40% resolution as per current evidence.
