Laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) inguinal hernia repair is an effective minimally invasive method for treating hernias that avoids entry into the abdomen. Since the introduction of TEP inguinal hernia repair, abundant clinical data have become available on laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs and their outcomes compared to open approaches. Decreased wound complications, faster recovery, and decreased incidence of chronic pain are some of the noticeable advantages that drove more surgeons to adopt these techniques.
