In order to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi urged the doctors to work for free on every 9 th of each month under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India.
The program aims to provide assured, comprehensive and quality antenatal care (ANC) free of cost on 9th of every month on a voluntary basis, to all pregnant women especially those living in under-served, semi-urban, poor and rural areas.
