The advances in the field of laparoscopic hernia surgery have offered tremendous improvements in several aspects of surgery right from suture repair to mesh reinforcement. Several new techniques such as primary defect closure, retro rectus mesh placement, and concomitant component separation have enabled doctors to provide better patient outcomes. However, complications arising after inappropriate mesh reinforcement and post-operative complications remain unaddressed, and the advent of robotics and newer techniques have helped overcome these challenges.
