The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has released 32 new Standard Treatment Workflows (STWs) for common and severe diseases. These STWs were developed by national experts in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA) and WHO India. The new STWs include cardiothoracic vascular surgery, neurosurgery, pediatric cardiology, orthopedics, and interventional radiology. The ICMR previously released 125 STWs covering 23 specialties in 2019 and 2022.

These evidence-based guidelines were developed to improve medical care consistency in the country and promote optimal treatment practices, efficient healthcare services, and rational drug use. According to the ICMR, these standard treatment protocols will save lives and improve patients’ quality of care.
