. A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury and is more common in athletes. The currently available assessment tools include 15-point Glasgow Coma Scale, neuropsychological evaluation, neuroimaging modalities like computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and blood biomarkers.

In 2018, the USFDA approved the first blood test to detect the concussion via measuring the levels of blood biomarkers associated with concussion. Measuring the blood biomarkers is a more reliable way to detect concussion than conventional neuropsychological assessment and neuroimaging techniques. Source: USFDA
