A 55-year-old alcoholic with a history of alcoholic cirrhosis arrives at the ED vomiting copious amounts of blood, hypotensive (BP 88/50 mm Hg), tachycardic (HR 115 beats/minute), and with an O 2 saturation of 95%. He is intubated, resuscitated, and taken to the endoscopy suite for further therapy.
