A 57-year-old female presents with an eruption of slightly painful lesions on her back. She has been feeling general malaise for 1-2 weeks with a sore throat, headache, mild cough and rhinorrhea. She notes her joints ache diffusely, and the lesions have slowly been expanding. She has felt subjective fevers nightly. The lesions are minimally tender on palpation. The patient denies new medications or exposures.
She did have frank upper respiratory infection symptoms 2 weeks ago just prior to the onset of her current symptoms and rash. On exam, the patient is febrile to 101.9 °F and mildly tachycardic. She has diffuse, well-demarcated, red plaques on her shoulders and upper back. Is it a disorder or syndrome? *This image based case is from Docplexus editorial team for educative purpose only.
