The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) recently updated the guidelines and recommendations for the treatment of COVID-19 based on efficacy and safety reports from various clinical trials. Use of inhaled corticosteroids in patients with COVID-19: Conclusion and recommendations Inhaled corticosteroids can be used for patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. Inhaled corticosteroids cannot be used for patients with immunosuppression or severe COVID-19, as they may be at risk of Cushingβs syndrome or adrenal suppression. More research is recommended to study the interaction of corticosteroids with the nirmatrelvir/ritonavir course of treatment.
