A doctor who was declared as quack by IMA was recently relieved. He was alleged of claiming himself as an epilepsy expert and using banned drugs for treatment of epilepsy. The doctor ran a clinic in Rishikesh and was popular in the area. He had numerous advertisements and daily articles trying to prove himself as an epilepsy expert. The local IMA after investigating his claims declared him as a quack in the year 2000.
In spite if this he continued his practice until one of his Canadian patient complained to the state government that he was prescribing prohibited drugs. Later he was arrested and the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) found him guilty and thus sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and ₹21,000 fine.
