Hailing the Central government’s decision to cap price of knee implants, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) said that it will make the procedure more affordable and thus more and more people will be able to undergo such treatment. Said IMA National president, “due to the high cost of implants, knee replacement surgery has been expensive thus depriving scores of people of much needed joint replacement surgery. The price cap on knee implants should have been done a long time back in the interest of people.
The government has taken a balanced approach to cap the prices of knee implants. Special orthopedic knee implants for cancer/tumor etc will follow the prices of revision surgery.
