The Medical Council of India has been empowered with an extremely important role - to make sure that medical practice is carried out ethically. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a track record of having done a very good job so far, for multiple reasons which I will not bother to spell out as they are now common knowledge. However, rather than list all the problems which plague the MCI, let's focus on solutions. I believe that a lot of these can be solved if the Medical Council starts using technology more intelligently in order to do a better job.
Let's start with CME - continuing medical education. The MCI needs to ensure that doctors in clinical practice remain updated with the latest medical advances, so that they provide their patients with state of the art medical care.
