Nutrition is a basic element of life. Good nutrition during infancy and early childhood is the secret for healthy growth of children. India is listed among the countries where child mortality and malnutrition rate is higher. Similarly, less attention is given to nutrition of women. Thus, every year, we celebrate National Nutrition Week between 1st to 7th September to increase awareness about the importance of nutrition for leading a healthy life.

As per the National Family Health Survey-4 (NFHS-4), the level of under nutrition in women and children has decreased by 6.8%, stunting by 9.6% and anemia by 11% as compared to the NFHS-3.
