It seems that many ophthalmic physicians prescribe antivirals like acyclovir or ganciclovir invariably to all A/c, co. In my opinion, it is absolutely unnecessary For the last twenty years I seldom used any antivirals for any type of conjunctivitis... Moreover applying antiviral ointment at nighttime is highly epitheliotropic.

What is the rationale behind it? Difference of opinion highly appreciated
