Scientists in the country have been able to isolate the novel coronavirus strain successfully. While declaring the same news, the health ministry officials have also mentioned that it will take one-and-a-half to two years to develop a vaccine for COVID-19. According to the head of the Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases-I (ECD-I), a Division of ICMR, Pune-based National Institute of Virology has successfully isolated 11 isolates of coronavirus. However, the process of vaccine development is tedious, and clinical trials and approvals for the same may take time.
Considering these factors, it may take around one-and-a-half to two years for the fully developed vaccine to be out in the market.
