Amidst the struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Health Minister of India, Dr. Harshvardhan, has been appointed as the nominee to represent India at the 73 rd World Health Assembly (WHA). India will head the first meeting of the executive board at the WHO, to be held on 22 nd May. After WHO’s truncated World Health Assembly conference, India will be heading the first executive board meeting to be held today, on 22 nd May. As a follow-up to the annual board meeting in January, a second shorter meeting takes place in May.

In this regard, the World Health Assembly has formally elected the members of the executive board on 18 th May. As head of the 34-member executive board-India’s nominee has to work closely with the Director-General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
