Rectal cancer is a challenging disease due to its high recurrence and metastasis rate. The current treatment of low rectal cancer involves total mesorectal excision (TME). However, despite the potential advantages of TME, management of low rectal cancer remains a challenge. Insights and experiences shared by experts in the field help budding surgeons towards the improved management of low rectal cancer.
