I happened to admit a case of approximately 18 weeks IUFD with hepatic encephalopathy. On investigation LFT deranged, Blood urea 189, s.creatinine 3.7, serum electrolytes deranged, PT INR 1.8. The patient expired 12 hours of admission before viral marker reports could be received or FFPs arranged. U/s from small town showed IUD.

Could not be verified as a patient, could not be shifted. Could induction of abortion have saved her? And is it advisable to do without FFPs in hand?
