Should India evolve a structured and uniform payment policy for doctors at various levels of their functioning and career, public and corporate both included? Our country exemplifies extremes. Unimagined affluence coexisting with utter poverty. The service sector of India is no exception to this dichotomy.

I would like to start a healthy discussion as to -whether so much disparity should exist in the remuneration for doctors in our country. This discussion stems from some realisation that among practising doctors, severe stress and anxiety remains, to see and retain patients to enhance income. Nothing wrong as long as it does not become some form of obsession and compulsion, leading to unhealthy practices.
