There are several challenges in rural medical practice and there is often lack of advanced facilities or resources. Despite these factors, doctors mostly manage to provide optimum patient care. Having basic engineering knowledge is a useful skill for rural doctors and surgeons. We, Indians are famous for “jugaad” innovations and there are doctors who routinely come up with such flexible and frugal options.
