There was a major confusion among those in the city availing medical insurance from a leading public sector general insurance company. The claims for several patients from smaller hospitals in the city were rejected. The situation peculiar to the city has emerged as the state government has not notified the central government's Clinical Establishment Act (CEA) of 2010. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation too is not yet authorized to register clinical establishments.
Clinical establishments in the city require only a certificate for bio-medical waste disposal from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to begin operations.
