We all have come across a critical patient in our carrier whatever our speciality might be. A person who has physiological derangement secondary to a disease process, acute or chronic serious enough to threaten life or organ. They can present in any point of their disease curve. The earlier they present the better could be their outcome.

Apart from time of presentation other factors impacting outcome in critical patients are - Number of organs involved, age, chronic health status, acuteness of disease, prior healthcare received, mode of transportation to the Hospital, infrastructure and experience of the admitting Healthcare centre, expertise of the team and Medical leadership of the critical care team.
