Treatment of Urinary Tract Infection depends on the extent and severity of UTI being assessed using the investigation modalities. Unfortunately, even in Diabetic patients, the proper investigations are not done before prescribing antibiotics. The following investigations help in a stepwise pattern to assess the extent and severity and guidance for proper therapy. 1. Routine urine examination. 2. Urine for culture and sensitivity before starting antibiotics 3. USG abdomen with residual urine to be noted in every case of UTI.
4.CT scan of abdomen if needed. 5. Gynecological examination in case of females to rule out gynecological causes for UTI. 6. Blood studies including Mantoux test to rule out Tuberculosis. 7.
