Right from the time when one gets into the Ophthalmology Post Graduate course the first thing which attracts and gives the high is the Cataract Surgery. The satisfaction to see the gratitude when a near to blind person starts to see again is second to none. Sadly the pride attached to the wonderful sight-restoring surgery is going down.
The rampant ill-planned eye camps here and there backed by media hungry NGO and sidelined political leaders is slowly making a mockery of eye surgery and Ophthalmology as a whole.
