75 % of cholesterol is produced by liver, 25 % is contributed by other tissues and food. Body produces cholesterol irrespective of dietary amount. If dietary cholesterol is less then indigenous production goes up and if dietary cholesterol is high indegenous production falls. In some individuals dietary cholesterol modestly increases both LDL and HDL levels.

There is enough of evidence for all this. Diet-Heart connection seems to be a myth and a victim of bad science. So how much we should continue to push bad and old science?
