A 62-year-old man was diagnosed as a case of pulmonary tuberculosis. He is a chronic a very heavy smoker and alcohol drinker for the last 40 years. About15 years back also. He was diagnosed to have pulmonary tuberculosis and for which he was admitted in TB ward for one month, on SHRZ and was counselled to quit drinking and smoking. His symptoms were relieved.
He stopped taking treatment after 3 months and resumed a heavy smoking and drinking regularly without any break. Now again, he is found to have pulmonary tuberculosis. My query is it a new infection or activation of the old lesion, for which he has taken incomplete treatment? Kindly share.
