Is it a rational combination using Ampicillin along with cephalosporin in situation like meningitis where probability of Listeria and pneumococcus occur. Similarly- Pyelonepritis with: Klebsiella which is susceptible only to third generation cephalosporin in combination with betalactamase inhibitor and Carbapenems.

Enterococci which is susceptible to Ampicillin, In this situation ,can I combine Ampicillin with a cephalosporin (third generation oral) with betalactamase inhibitor.(As enterococci are intrinsically resistant to cephalosporins) Kindly share your views.
